Mario Batali reminds us that food matters and incorporates this philosophy into each lunch bag through the Lunchbox Auction Fund. By purchasing a Mario Batali insulated lunch bag, you are not only feeding a child – you are joining the fight against poverty and hunger in the US and abroad as a portion of the proceeds goes to the Lunchbox Auction. Splitting its proceeds between two important organizations in the US and in South Africa, the Lunchbox Auction’s goal is to feed our children and give them every opportunity to learn and live their dreams.
Bring your lunch in style!
A lunch bag redefined by Mario Batali…

A partnership between the Food Bank For New York City and The Lunchbox Fund, the Lunchbox Auction helps to fight hunger from New York, New York to
Soweto, South Africa through the sale of insulated Cosmoda lunch bags inspired by Chef Mario Batali.

Food Bank For New York City, which recognizes 25 years as the city’s major hunger-relief organization, works to end food poverty and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers. The Food Bank distributes food to more than 1,000 food assistance programs citywide and provides a range of direct service, financial empowerment, education and nutrition, disaster relief, policy and research initiatives. During the difficult economic times ahead, the Food Bank’s network of services, including the largest civilian Free Tax Assistance Program in the country, put it in a unique place to help New Yorkers in need. The Food Bank recently received its fourth, consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator for effective and fiscally responsible management. For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, 96 cents goes toward food acquisition, distribution and programs.

The Lunchbox Fund provides impoverished children in the township schools of Soweto often their only meal of the day. Many of these children are AIDSorphans who are caring for their siblings, and whose performance at school is diminished without food. Receiving food encourages these children to stay in school and obtain their education. When a child stays in school, their risk of HIV infection, abuse and unwanted pregnancy are greatly reduced. Because The Lunchbox Fund is operated with an all volunteer team in South Africa and the US, there are no administrative costs. Every dollar raised goes directly to the children in South Africa. For more information or to make a donation please visit: www.thelunchboxfund.org
